Most papers selected in this book are investigations of the vocabulary study group researchers. The issues in discussion can be divided into three categories: (1) the interface between the word meaning and morphology; (2) the interface between lexicology and lexicography; (3) the specific words in ancient and contemporary Chinese.
Zhang Bo is Director, Professor and PhD. students' supervisor of Center for Studies of Chinese as a Foreign Language, Beijing Language and Culture University. She studies the vocabulary of ancient Chinese and has published many works, including A Systematic Exploration on the Family Words' Transfer in Chinese Pronunciation, A Brief Discussion on the Categories and Characteristics of Family Words in Chinese, Studies on Adjective Suffixes such as "ru, ruo, er, ran, yan" in Pre-Qin Dynasty, The Corresponding Division of Words' Meaning and the Difference of Meaning among Family Words, New Proof to the Existence of Four Tones in Pre-Qin Dynasty, Assimilation: A Special Derivation of Word Meaning, Condition and Development Trend of Verb-Object Structure + Object, Study of Ancient Chinese Vocabulary etc. He won the 2nd National Excellent Teaching Prize for University Teachers in 1993.
